THE number of times council chiefs have used controversial spying legislation in North Lincolnshire has trebled, new figures have revealed.

North Lincolnshire Council used the Regulation of Investigatory Powers Act (RIPA) 28 times last year, compared with seven in 2008/ 09 and three in 2007/08.
