I Read with some frustration the letter from the Lincolnshire Marsh Protection Group blaming councils for the proliferation of wind turbines in this country and, while having the greatest respect for such environmental organisations and the work they do, wish to set the record straight.

Any person or company may apply for planning consent to install wind turbines. It is the legal duty of the planning department of each council to review carefully the application, invite objections from individuals, groups and various government organisations such as the Environment Agency, RAF, RSPB etc, before moving the plan onward through the system.
