Yorkshire and the Humber's Liberal Democrat MEP, Diana Wallis, has been criticised for her alleged claim that Iceland should not be afraid to take the dispute about its collapsed banks to the British courts.

Referring to the dispute between Iceland and Britain over of Landsbanki's Icesave deposit accounts in the UK, Ms Wallis told Icelandic newspaper Morgunbladid: "To my understanding Icelandic authorities have already offered British authorities to take the matter to the European Court of Justice, but Britain refused."
