Summary


he average house price in Britain rose by Pounds 526 in a month to Pounds 168,731 in July, according to building society Nationwide. This is the highest level since July last year when prices reached Pounds 169,347 and suggests that the market is showing signs of stability.

"Stability has been the watchword for the UK housing market," says Nationwide's Economist Robert Gardner. "Sluggish demand for homes, combined with only a gradual rise in the supply of available properties, has helped to keep property prices relatively stable."
