It Would be easy to poke fun at some of the minor candidates in the Haltemprice and Howden by-election, but I respect and am grateful to the likes of David Bishop of the Militant Elvis Party (44 votes), Miss Great Britain (521 votes, forsooth) and even Mad Cow-Girl, the Monster Raving Loony Party candidate, who managed to persuade 411 other people to vote for her.
