SAFETY experts on the Scunthorpe Corus steelworks have said there has been a 70 per cent drop so far this year in the number of fire extinguishers found empty with no reason given.

At the same time, the use of extinguishers by employees has dropped from 180 a month in 2008 to 80 a month this year.
