Sarah Cook, 36, of Winteringham, will take part in the Great North Run this month to support the charity that grants the wishes of sick and terminally ill children.

FOR one competitor starting the Tour of Britain on Saturday, riding in Scunthorpe will be something of a homecoming. Ben Swift, 21, of Rotherham, started his cycling at the velodrome in the town competing for the Scunthorpe Poly Cycling Club.
A COFFEE morning will be held in Glentham next week. The event, organised by St Peter's Guild, will take place from 10.30am on Tuesday, at Sarah's Cottage in the village.
THE Glentham 55+ club will stage its next meeting on Monday. The club will meet at Glentham Village Hall, at 2pm.

A SERIES of police raids on cannabis factories has seen the number of tip-offs from the public rise by 900 per cent. Humberside Police officers say the calls are vital to help force growers of the illegal weed from our area.

AS THE county councillor who represents the residents of Hemswell Cliff area, may I thank all our emergency teams for their efforts at Hemswell Cliff both during and after the inferno at the plastic recycling centre last week. Obviously we should all be very proud of our fire teams and the co-ordination which saw such a massive build up of a third of our and other counties' resource.
