Scunthorpe Evening Telegraph
It may be a Wednesday, but you're in full weekend mood as you try to source information about what really happened. Phone calls you receive after 6pm should tell you all you need to know. Actions make the hero. You know what needs to be done to put things in order in your family. It takes effort, but you'll reap the rewards when you see how happy an older face becomes.
I WOULD urge everyone to ask themselves what they would lose if they lost their sight. In business, and more lately my TV career, I've relied on my sight so much. When you lose your sight it can impact your life in many different ways and I honestly don't know if I could have achieved the same success.
Safety Zone Plan's Not 'Hit the Skids'
I WRITE to correct the story in Saturday's Scunthorpe Telegraph ('Council row halts safety zones plan'). The first paragraph states 'a plan to consult all infant and junior schools on safety zones... has hit the skids'.
Children Not the Ticket to Benefits

Jonathan Forte V Wes Morgan ; Crunch Clash
COMPOSED finishing, coupled with heart and desire, Jonathan Forte surprised most people with his stunning match-winning performance against Crystal Palace three short weeks ago. It was a display which has earned him the right to spearhead Iron boss Nigel Adkins' now seemingly favoured 4-5-1 formation when his side are on their travels.
Striker Calls for Forest to Be City Ground Slickers ; Forest View Dele Adebola
DELE Adebola has warned his Nottingham Forest team-mates they need to address their home form if they are to stand a chance of achieving anything this season. Sunday's 1-0 success at Plymouth may have been the Reds' first away success of the campaign, but it took their unbeaten run on their travels to five games - following up four successive draws.
AFC BLADES banked their first victory in division four in a clash of two teams new to the league. Scunthorpe Rangers were toppled 5-1, Barsley (2), Drew, Robinson and Leggott claiming the points for the visitors.
AT LAST, for the first time in its four-year history, the Maksan Challenge Bowl, contested annually between the ladies of Scunthorpe IBC and the ladies of North Cave IBC, has been won by the Scunthorpe team. Playing at the Carlton St venue, the hosts, despite winning on only three of the six rinks, claimed the aggregate score and the overall victory, by 115 shots to 84.
Walker Suffers More Problems ; Motorsport
ROB MAC Racing's Chris Walker was left cursing his bike for the second round running of the MCE Insurance British Superbike Championship at Silverstone. The 37-year-old from Newark was forced to pull out of the first race at the Northamptonshire circuit with electrical problems picked up on Saturday following a high-speed crash.

DOG owners in North Lincolnshire have been warned to inoculate their pooches against a deadly virus. Staff at Ashcroft Veterinary Surgery, Winterton Road, Scunthorpe, said two dogs have died after contracting the killer parvovirus and they have treated four animals so far.
