IT WAS no real surprise this week when the Premier League chairmen turned down the proposal to bring Rangers and Celtic into English football. The two Scottish giants attract crowds of 40,000 and 50,000 and I am sure that would be an attraction for some chairmen.

An Injury Scare Won't Keep Me Out of Squad

Teenager Ordered to Pay His Attack Victim

A TEENAGER who attacked the duty manager of a Scunthorpe homeless centre was ordered to pay his victim Pounds 150. Luke Wilson, 18, of Digby Street, Scunthorpe, went to The Lighthouse on Frodingham Road, at about 10.50pm on September 22.

Eyes Down for Bingo

IT IS not too late to join in and attend a chilli and bingo night in Brigg. The event takes place at the town's Angel Suite tonight and will also include salsa music from a local Cuban band.

Offenders in Court for Sentencing

THE following people have been sentenced recently at North Lincolnshire Magistrates' Court. Paul Adams, 38, of Ashtree Close, Belton, was ordered to carry out 160 hours of unpaid work after he admitted defying a driving ban.

THE LOCAL branch of the National RAF Association's next meeting will take place on Wednesday. The event will take place at the Ancholme Inn on Grammar School Road in Brigg at noon.

THE NEXT Wayfarers walk will take place on Saturday, November 21. Members are asked to meet at 10am at the Park and Ride on Ferriby Road in Barton-Upon-Humber or at 10.30am at St Mary's Church in Main Street, Broughton, where the walk will start.

Jail for Truck Driver Caught Over the Limit

A TRUCKER who drove his HGV onto the Scunthorpe steelworks when he was more than three times over the drink-drive limit was jailed by District Judge Daniel Curtis. Dennis Aisthorpe, prosecuting at North Lincolnshire Magistrates' Court, said Hungarian national Janos Uveges drove a Daf HGV into the Corus site from Mortal Ash Hill at about 12.30pm on November 11.

We'll Bin Clean-Up If We're Forced to Pay for It ; Group Leader's Fury at Charge

A FURIOUS community leader could bin a neighbourhood clean-up campaign after North Lincolnshire Council said it may charge him thousands for the privilege. Peter Woodcock, chairman of the new Westcliff Residents' Association, has the backing of North Lincolnshire Homes (NLH), police and probation officials to use convicts to clean up the Hindon Walk area of Scunthorpe. But council chiefs said Mr Woodcock may have to fork out more than Pounds 2,000-a-year to pay commercial rates for a bedsit, ...
