Plaque in Memory of Air Crew Unveiled
NORTH Lincolnshire people are being invited to the unveiling of a plaque to commemorate the memory of RAAF and RAF personnel who died on a training flight at Corringham, Lincolnshire on December 16, 1943. Corringham Parish Council and St Laurence's Parochial Church Council want people from the region to join the unveiling of the plaque, which will take place at a special service at St Laurence's Church, Corringham on Sunday at 11am.
School Garden Gets Tree of Life
PUPILS at South Ferriby Primary School have a new addition to their environmental garden, a Tree of Life. The sculpture was generously donated by the family and friends of the late Gert Henson, who died in February last year.

Scheme Aiming to Cut Bad Behaviour ; 150 Youngsters Back Sport Project
FOOTBALLERS, dancers and skaters showed off their skills to help make a day-long Street Sport scheme a huge success. More than 150 teenagers and children turned up to the launch, organised by North Lincolnshire Council's Street Sport team and Humberside Police.
A CAR boot sale will be held next weekend to raise money for a school trip to France. The sale will be held on Sunday, November 8, at Foxhills School FTC to raise money for the trip to Narobonne Plage.

Tory Government Would Review Toll ; Opposition Promises to Investigate Following Petition
THE Tories will commission a Treasury review into whether to scrap the Humber Bridge tolls, the party has announced. Speaking ahead of a visit to the bridge today, shadow transport secretary Theresa Villiers said the decision was a "direct result" of the Scunthorpe Telegraph's A Toll Too Far campaign, which attracted more than 10,000 signatures calling for the charge to be cut to Pounds 1 or scrapped altogether.

Don't Present Tyson As a Hero ; Viewpoint
I WAS very disappointed to see the Dynamite School of Boxing promoting Mike Tyson to come to Scunthorpe. I was very concerned to see him portrayed as a hero. The facts are, in 1992 he was convicted and sentenced to 10 years in prison for rape. In 1997 he was disqualified for biting part of Evander Holyfield's ear off. And in 2007 he was convicted on possession of cocaine and sentenced to jail and 360 hours of community service and three years' probation.
Council has Gone Back On Promise ; Viewpoint
IN REPLY to the article in the Scunthorpe Telegraph of October 19 regarding the closure of rent offices. What is the point of having a customer centre in town if it does not cover the most basic of needs - to have a payment of rents facility? Let's not disguise the need to have an office in town as a customer service. What service will it provide? Ward councillor Tony Ellerby, rightly states more consultation should have been done with residents who pay rent.
